A dashboard is a layout problem as much as a data problem. The first screen should answer the single question the audience opens it for — are we on track — and the supporting detail should sit one level below.
Use a consistent hierarchy: headline figures, then trend against target, then breakdown by the dimension people manage by. Drill-downs belong behind a click, not on the landing view.
Decide up front how the dashboard is published and who can see what. Role-based access, single sign-on and refresh schedules are part of the design, not an afterthought once the visuals are approved.
